Course-led diagnostic

One-to-one Oxford mock interviews, academic discussion and focused feedback. Prepare to explain your reasoning and respond to unfamiliar questions.
Oxford interviews reward what happens after the first answer: how you justify an assumption, use a hint or reconsider a claim. Aureus works on these habits through subject-specific discussion and mock interviews, using your submitted application as context.

Programme components
We begin with the course and your current reasoning. A discussion or mock identifies whether the main obstacle is subject knowledge, argument, problem-solving or communication.
Depending on the subject, preparation may use a short passage, graph, conceptual question or mathematical problem. The task is to make progress when an answer is not immediately obvious.
Revisit the books, projects and claims in your submitted application. Practise explaining what you learned, what you questioned and how your view developed.
Review moments where an assumption went untested, a hint was missed or an explanation became unclear. Practise again on a different task rather than memorising a model answer.

Programme questions
Oxford’s current guidance says shortlisted applicants will have online interviews in December 2026. Check the official subject timetable and your invitation for your own arrangements.
Yes. You can develop subject discussion and reasoning before shortlisting. Preparation does not imply that you will be invited to interview.
No. We focus on reasoning, subject understanding and responsiveness. A rehearsed answer is of little use when the discussion moves in an unfamiliar direction.
Send the invitation, subject, current preparation and available times. We assess what useful work can fit before the interview and confirm specialist availability before agreeing a programme.
